Rs. 2.04 crore given to 360 beneficiaries

Hosur: Collector Santhosh Babu on Thursday distributed welfare aid worth Rs. 2.04 crore to 360 beneficiaries at a mass contact programme held at Belalam village in Denkanikottai taluk.

As many as 365 petitions were received by the Collector from the villagers seeking house site pattas, drinking water facilities, old age pension, loan assistance and patta transfer.

He handed over the petitions to officials concerned for necessary action.

A review of 50 petitions on which action was taken was also held.

The district administration will conduct a special mass contact programme at Belalam village to issue house site pattas to eligible beneficiaries.

Efforts would be taken to distribute 2-acre free land to landless labourers in Denkanikottai taluk.

Mr. Babu said the State Government was implementing several schemes for the welfare of the people.

Steps had been taken to prevent irregularities while distributing welfare aid to beneficiaries.

Officials would personally visit the houses of beneficiaries and verify whether they were eligible to receive assistance under various government schemes.

The Collector asked villagers not to approach middlemen to get government assistance.

The Collector appealed to villagers to send all out-of-school children and drop outs to appropriate alternative schools and innovative education centres.

Public Relations Officer M. Krishnasamy and senior officials were present.
