NEW DELHI: Proposals relating to grants worth Rs.1.17 crore for seven organisations, institutions and non-government organisation were approved by Delhi Kalyan Samiti at a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Thursday. The meeting was also attended by Finance Minister and Samiti vice-chairperson A.K. Walia. The Samiti approved a grant of Rs. 25 lakh each for Kerala Education Society and Miranda House. Kerala Education Society would use the amount for completion of its school building that would help in imparting education to a large number of students. Miranda House will get the sum to meet part of its expenses on construction of a tennis court and synthetic track. Sri Aurobindo Society would get Rs. 20 lakh for completion of its library and procurement of books. Under the head of “promotion of sports and cultural activities”, the Samiti would release an amount of Rs.17 lakh to the All-India Tennis Association for organising the India-Uzbekistan Davis Cup match.
