NEW DELHI: A court here on Thursday issued production warrants for the prime accused in the Phoolan Devi murder case, Sher Singh Rana, and two other accused to consider their plea for transferring their case to another court. District Judge Satnam Singh issued warrants for Sher Singh and two other accused – Dheeraj Rana and Shekhar Singh – directing Tihar Central Jail authorities to produce them on March 28. Earlier, Additional Sessions Judge Mamata Sehgal had refused to grant any relief to the accused, who had wanted their case transferred from the court of Additional Sessions Judge V. K. Bansal. Sher Singh had claimed that he had no faith in the judge hearing his case. In his complaint before the Judge-in-Charge, Sher Singh had alleged that ASJ Bansal had been using coercive methods while recording the testimonies of the accused and other witnesses. In 2004, too, Sher Singh had managed to get his case transferred from a Tis Hazari court to Patiala House after claiming that he had no faith in that particular court.
