Legal literacy camps for women

Valedictory function: Sportswomen who won prizes in various competitions were felicitated by Governor Rameshwar Thakur during the valedictory function of the International Women’s Day celebrations in Bangalore on Thursday.
Bangalore: Legal literacy camps for women will be held in 18,000 villages across the State throughout this year in association with the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority, said Shalini Rajneesh, Secretary, Department of Women and Child Development.
Range of roles
Speaking at the valedictory function of the International Women’s Day celebrations held here on Thursday, Ms. Rajneesh said the celebrations this year were unique as it showcased women’s achievements in a wide range of roles.
The event saw representatives of self-help groups from rural areas as well as young sportswomen who had won prizes in contests being felicitated by Governor Rameshwar Thakur.
Mr. Thakur said that the Government was trying to give women and children priority by providing substantial budgetary allocation and infrastructure.
