New lighthouse for Minicoy

KOCHI: The foundation stone for a new lighthouse was laid at Minicoy in Lakshadweep on Wednesday.

Amina Alibebege, the chairperson of the village (dweep) panchayat, laid the foundation stone for the new light house, which is close to the eastern beach of the island, with a population of 10,000.

The new lighthouse is meant to guide passenger and cargo ships berthing at the Eastern Embarkation Jetty.
