Plea against ESCOMs dismissed

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Thursday dismissed a petition by a city-based advocate seeking a direction to the electricity supply companies (ESCOMs) in the State to reduce the tariff for different slabs.

The petitioner, A.V. Amarnathan, said though the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) had reduced the slabs, the ESCOMs had not passed the benefit to the consumers. He urged the court to direct the companies to reduce the tariff and give effect to the KERC slabs.

The ESCOMs submitted that they had obtained stay against the KERC order from the Central tribunal.

Justice N.K. Patil dismissed the petition.
