They have not been permitted to take the examination BANGALORE: Three college students have moved the High Court against the refusal by the authorities to permit them to appear for the pre-university exam as they are facing attendance shortage. One student from Bangalore and two students from Udupi have urged the court to direct the PU Board and college authorities to permit them to appear for the examination, scheduled to commence from March 17. Vidya, a second-year PU student of Baldwin Girls Junior College, Bangalore, on Thursday informed the court that she could not attend classes regularly due to ill-health. She said she had chicken pox and had to skip classes from September 17, 2007 to November 28, 2007. She said she had infraction of her left foot and this forced her to abstain from attending classes from January 9, 2008 to January 28, 2008. Justice Ashok Hinchigeri ordered issue of emergent notice to the school principal and adjourned further hearing on the case to Friday. In a related case, two students of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial College of Udupi too have moved the High Court against the refusal of the authorities to permit them to appear for the final PU examination.
