“Liquor with fake hologram smuggled into Gujarat” BHOPAL: The Madhya Pradesh Minister for Commercial Taxes, Babulal Gaur, admitted in the State Assembly on Thursday that Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) was being produced clandestinely in the State. Confirming this, he said a flying squad of the Khargone district excise office had seized liquor with fake hologram from a foreign liquor shop at Mandleshwar on July 23, 2007. He told the House that the licensee involved in this racket had been slapped a fine of Rs.50,000 under the Madhya Pradesh Excise Act, 1915, and a complaint was also lodged with the Mandleshwar police on March 1 this year. The Minister gave a written reply to a query by Rajwardhan Singh. Sajjan Singh Verma of the Congress in a supplementary question asked Mr. Gaur why it had taken them seven months to lodge a complaint with the police. He alleged a nexus between those in the Government and those producing fake IMFL and alleged that clandestinely produced liquor was being smuggled into Gujarat from Madhya Pradesh.
