“Accusations ridiculous”

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: The Prince of Arcot Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali has dismissed as ridiculous, defamatory and legally actionable the accusations that he had used intimidatory measures to force the closure of an exhibition on Mughal emperor Aurangazeb.

In a statement, the Prince of Arcot said the allegations in a section of the press attributed to French journalist Francois Gautier, convenor of the exhibition, carried the “shocking innuendos” that he had influenced higher authorities to disrupt the exhibition. The Nawab said his record of public life over the past 35 years was “well-known and an open book” that would show him as a non-communal and non-political person with no connection to any political party or fundamentalist group.
