Giving finishing touches: The pylon of Thota Venkatachalam Pushkara lift irrigation scheme at Purushotthapatnam in East Godavari district, being prepared for unveiling by Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Friday.
Rajahmundry: The stage is set for the inauguration of Thota Venkatachalam Pushkara lift irrigation scheme at Purushotthapatnam in the district on Friday by the Congress president and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
Panchayat Raj Minister J.C. Diwakar Reddy inspected the arrangements along with the Collector M. Subrahmanyam, Superintendent of Police B. Sreenivasulu, Rajahmundry legislator R. Suryaprakasa Rao, Zilla Parishad Chairman Ch.Venugopala Krishna and Member of Legislative Council K. Durgesh this morning.
Public meeting
Sonia Gandhi will press a button to start the Pushkara scheme pump house, unveil a pylon and view an exhibition on Jalayagnam projects in the State.
She will later proceed to Jaggampeta to address the public. Tight security arrangements were made for the event by the Special Protection Group whose team arrived well in advance to ensure that no untoward incident takes place as the function venue is situated in close proximity to the Agency areas.
