Wage agreement

COIMBATORE: The Nilgiri Wynaad Planters’ Association and the trade unions have arrived at an agreement for revised wages for plantation workers in Nilgiri-Waynad region.

A release from the Planters’ Association of India said this would benefit about 12,000 plantation workers in the Gudalur and Pandalur areas.

Bonus

The workers would get Rs. 86 as daily wages with Rs. 2 as terrain allowance and Rs. 2 as Service Allowance. Further, the workers would be paid a “price linked bonus” at the rate of seven paisa a rupee per day, if the average price of tea sold at the auction centres exceeded Rs. 50 a kg.
