Telangana not mere emotional issue: Narayana

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The Communist Party of India (CPI) State council has reiterated its stand for an early solution to the demand for formation of separate Telangana State.

“Separate Telangana State is no longer an emotive issue, it has turned into a political issue and needs a political solution,” CPI State secretary K. Narayana said. The issue will be discussed in the party’s 20th national congress commencing here on March 23 wherein a political resolution endorsing the State council’s stand was likely to be passed.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Dr. Narayana refuted reports that the party’s leaders from coastal and Rayalaseema regions were opposed to a separate State. The State council had passed a resolution on the issue at its State congress in Tirupati and the resolution was endorsed by all the leaders. “It cannot be hidden as it is a political resolution not a love letter,” he remarked.

Explaining the arrangements being made for the event, he said the party had organised a series of programmes including cultural events as well as seminars on relevant issues in the run up to the national congress.
