Official held for taking bribe

CHENNAI: The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption police (Special Unit-III) arrested a firka surveyor at Morai Taluk Office, Ambattur, on Thursday.

According to a press release, the accused was arrested by the officers while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs.1,000 from the complainant for effecting a patta transfer to his relative. Following a search, the police recovered Rs.32,950 from the accused.

Further investigations are on.
