VISAKHAPATNAM: With a good industry-institution interaction the talent on the either side could be put to good use, Chairman and Managing Director of A.P. Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited Lav Agarwal said on Thursday.

“We together can apply for many patents by making use of the talent and need not look to the US for help. Andhra University can apply for at least 10 patents”, Mr. Lav Agarwal said while participating in the inaugural function of a three-day international conference on “power system analysis, control and optimisation” (PSACO-2008) being organised by the Department of Electrical Engineering of Andhra University College of Engineering in association with the Hyderabad section of IEEE.

He requested the experts to guide the EPDCL to achieve more results.

Principal of AUCE Allam Appa Rao wanted EPDCL and other organisations to look to the college to solve their challenging problems.

He also wanted the scientists to find ways for computers, now used widely, to consume less power.

Conference co-chair S. Rama Mohana Rao presided. Technical programme chair K.S. Linga Murthy and co-ordinator of the conference K. Vaisakh explained about the conference.

President of Hyderabad section of IEEE M.B. Srinivas wanted the AUCE to make the conference an annual event.
