Film on violence

Special Correspondent

Bangalore: How is sexual violence on women resisted, remembered and recorded by individuals and communities? “The Lightning Testimonies”, a documentary by Amar Kanwar, explores this question through narratives of women.

The film will be screened in Bangalore on Friday by Vimochana and Pedestrian Pictures. Using a range of visual images, the film moves beyond suffering into a space of quiet contemplation, where resilience creates a potential for transformation. The screening will be followed by a discussion with the director in which theatre activist Kirtana Kumar, Madhu Bhushan of Vimochana and filmmaker Vinod Raja will participate.

The film is screening at 5 p.m. at the Centre for Film and Drama, 71, Miller’s Road, 5th Floor, Sona Towers.
