Thiruvananthapuram: Four persons were killed and three others injured when the car in which they were travelling rammed a tanker lorry at Kaniyapuram early on Thursday. The police identified the deceased as Mahesh, 25, Manoj, 32, his wife, Divya, 21, and Divya’s father, Thankappan Achari, 52. Manoj’s father Vijayan Achari drove the car. He and two of his relatives, Chandrika and Prabhavathi, sustained serious injuries in the collision and are being treated at the Medical College Hospital. The accident occurred at 1.45 p.m. near the Vettoor road, when the lorry driver abruptly reduced the speed of his vehicle to take a left turn. The family was on their way to see off Mahesh who was scheduled to take a morning flight to his workplace in the Gulf. They hail from Paravoor in Kollam district. The bodies were handed over to relatives. A hospital official said the injured persons were out of danger. The police have registered a case of rash driving against the lorry driver. Two-wheeler rider deadA 54-year-old man, Badarudin, was killed when the motorbike he was riding dashed against a multi-axle container truck near Thonackal on Thursday. He was a resident of Andoorkonam.
