BIAL to go head with programme

BANGALORE: Interestingly, BIAL has decided to hold an event to showcase the new airport on March 28 – the day on which it actually wanted to inaugurate the airport as per the earlier schedule by inviting the Prime Minister. A BIAL communiqué said: “To mark the successful readiness of the airport infrastructure, it will hold such an event to showcase the new airport on March 28.”
A BIAL spokesperson said it would still like to invite the Prime Minister for March 28 the event.
Relief for BBMP
Meanwhile, the Bruhat Bangalore Mahangara Palike heaved a sigh of relief following the deferment of airport’s opening. The BBMP, which had undertaken construction of six underpasses and widening of the road linking the new airport, had now got more time to complete them before May 11, a BBMP official said.
“We would have been able to complete four underpasses by March 30. Now, with the extension of the opening date of the airport, we will be able to complete the work on all the underpasses,” the official said.
