Panther cub dies
Staff Reporter
KODAIKANAL: A two-month-old panther cub was found dead on the highway leading to Kodaikanal Observatory in the heart of the town on Thursday. Forest officials suspected that the cub could have been ran over by an unidentified vehicle.
A team led by District Forest Officer A. Venkatesh recovered the carcass of the cub.
Mr. Venkatesh stated movement of panthers on the highways and prime roads on the hill station were very frequent at night and in the early morning owing to increase in its population on the hill.
He appealed to local people and tourists to reduce the speed of their vehicles in forest areas to protect the wild life.
