“Withdraw milk price hike”

CHENNAI: The State chapter of the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) has demanded withdrawal of hike in the retail price of milk.

In a statement, the association said the hike imposed a further burden on people who were reeling under the increasing prices of essential commodities. The government should absorb the increase in the procurement price.

The association wanted the Central government to supply adequate quantity of kerosene to the State.

It urged the State government to ensure timely release of assistance money to beneficiaries of the maternity relief scheme.
