Mana Party predicts ‘BC Rajyam’
Staff Reporter
VISAKHAPATNAM: Mana Party will contest all the 294 Assembly segments in AP in the 2009 Assembly Elections on its own and establish a ‘BC Rajyam’, said its president and MLC Kasani Gyaneswar.
At a media conference here on Thursday, he said that the party would accord top priority to the empowerment of SC/STs, BCs and minorities.
He, however, said that due representation would be given to all castes in proportion to their population.
Mr. Gyaneswar said that his party would contest all the seats in the by-elections in Telangana, which were necessitated due to the resignation of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti MLAs. Referring to the BC Garjana organised by the Telugu Desam Party, he thanked the TDP for promising to give 93 seats to BCs and hoped that the party would uphold its promise.
He strongly opposed the proposal of the Rajasekhara Reddy Government for the setting up of a coastal corridor between Kakinada and Visakhapatnam and said that it would deprive 80 lakh fishermen of their livelihood.
He said that the State body of the party would be formed by this week-end. Asked if the party would form an alliance with Chiranjeevi’s party, he said: “Let him announce the formation of the party first.”
