CHIKMAGALUR: K.V.R. Tagore, Commissioner, Department of Information, has said that district-level film festivals will be held from next month. Addressing presspersons in Sringeri on Friday, Mr. Tagore said award-winning children’s films would be screened in schools in the first stage. This would be extended to taluks in the second stage, and one film would be screened every week in all schools later, he said. He said there were many complaints that unscrupulous elements blackmailed officials after obtaining information from them under the Right to Information Act. To prevent this, a workshop would be organised to educate officials on information that could be given under the Act. He said that media centres would be opened in all districts to help journalists to obtain information about other districts. Computers would be provided with data feeding, page making, printers, internet, web camera and storage and dissemination facilities, he added.
