Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal Chandigarh: The Punjab Chief Minister, Parkash Singh Badal, on Friday sought the expertise of the serving and ex-defence officers from Army, Navy and Air-Force to impart training to the unemployed youth of the State to enhance their chances of employability in the defence forces considerably. These views were expressed by Mr. Badal during an interaction with a high-powered delegation of the officers from the National Defence College, New Delhi led by Vice Admiral Mr. Sanjeev Bhasin here on Friday. Taking part in the deliberations Mr. Badal asked the officers to chalk out a comprehensive short-term course for the youth to ensure their selection in the defence forces. He said the State Government had already taken an initiative to impart training to the un-employed youth in private security services at Police Training Academy, Jehan Khelan in district Hoshiarpur. Likewise, the untapped potential of youth could also be channelised in a constructive manner by motivating them to serve the defence forces, he said. Civil aviation varsityHe also broadly outlined the vision of his Government for establishing a Civil Aviation University in the State keeping in view its tremendous scope of this ever-expanding sector. There was an acute shortage of commercial pilots worldwide and such initiative would prove to be a milestone not only providing lucrative job opportunities to our youth but also in heralding an era of progress of prosperity in the State, he said. Prominent amongst others who were present in the meeting included officers from U.K., U.S.A., Bangladesh, Bhutan and France who are pursuing specialised courses in defence services at National Defence College, New Delhi. -- PTI
