Commercial use of domestic gas cylinders under the scanner

PUDUCHERRY: Indane, along with the Civil Supplies department of the Puducherry government, is conducting raids in hotels to check the diversion of domestic gas cylinders for commercial use, Chief Area Manager of Indane, Chennai A. Balaravi said.

On the occasion of World Consumer’s Day, Indane Distributors Association, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, organised a face-to-face meeting with customers on Thursday.

Mr. Balaravi said diversion of domestic gas cylinders to commercial outlets was on in Puducherry. “With the help of the Civil Supplies department, we are conducting raids and seizing cylinders from hotels,” he said.

Indane has around 60,000 to 70,000 customers in the Union Territory. The cost of a domestic cylinder is Rs.265, while a commercial cylinder is Rs.1,158.
