Selection of Indiramma panels stayed

Correspondent

VIZIANAGARAM: The High Court has stayed the selection of Indiramma monitoring committees in the 11 municipal wards represented by the Telugu Desam Party in the town.

Stating this at a press conference on Friday, TDP Floor leader in the municipal council V.S. Prasad said that the court order was a moral victory for the party. He said that the court had directed the district Collector and the Municipal Commissioner to show the cause within two weeks for violating the G.O. No. 350.

Minister for Housing Botcha Satyanarayana, at the awareness programme on Indiramma-III on February 24, said that there was no need to conduct gram sabhas/meetings for selection of committees. But, Dr. Prasad alleged that the committees, though were to be finalised by March 5 in Vizianagaram municipality, were constituted by February 24 itself even without the knowledge of TDP councillors in all the 11 wards.
