Kasturirangan did not accept post
Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI: Even as a Parliamentary Joint Committee on Offices of Profit has noted that acceptance of the post of Chair Professor in Indira Gandhi National Open University by MPs would attract the provisions of “disqualification” for holding an Office of Profit, noted scientist and nominated Rajya Sabha member K. Kasturirangan told The Hindu that he had not accepted the post.
The Committee’s observations were in reference to a letter received by the Rajya Sabha Secretariat from
Dr. Kasturirangan himself.
“I myself sent the letter to the Rajya Sabha secretariat to be placed before the Joint Committee for their approval,” said the scientist. “Since it was not approved, I did not accept.”
