Krishna Iyer’s stance flayed

Special Correspondent

Thiruvananthapuram:

Kerala Congress(B) general secretary K.B. Ganesh Kumar, MLA, has termed as “partisan” the statement of former Supreme Court judge V.R. Krishna Iyer criticising the February 19 hartal called by the UDF.

In a letter to the former judge, released here on Friday, Mr. Ganesh Kumar said that it was unfortunate that Mr. Krishna Iyer did not react in anyeay to the ‘vehicle bandh’ that was staged a day before the UDF hartal and the traders’ strike staged two days after it.

The peaceful hartal had been called to protest against the rise in prices of essential commodities.

The MLA pointed out that the former judge had failed to react to 23 hartals called by the Left Democratic Front while it was in power and in the opposition.

He criticised him for his continued criticism of the UDF and for showering praise on the LDF on all occasions.
