Demand for adequate drinking water supply

TIRUNELVELI: Demanding adequate supply of protected drinking water, residents of Ulagaalpuram near Sankarankovil came to the Collectorate here with empty pots and submitted a petition. The villagers said their hamlet with 50 families under Kulasekaramangalam panchayat was getting drinking water through seven public taps installed under Tamiraparani Combined Drinking Water Scheme. However, water was coming from only one tap while the rest going dry recently.

Petitions forwarded to the Block Development Officer of Meleneelithanallur and other officials failed to evoke any response, they said.
