‘Bungling’ in polls feared

Chandigarh: Alleging that the Punjab government has a “deep rooted ulterior motive” in announcing the Panchayat elections in a hurried manner, the Congress on Friday appealed to the Election Commission to take all possible steps to ensure free and fair polls.

At a meeting of party MLAs and other office bearers here, State Congress chief Rajinder Kaur Bhattal expressed apprehensions of large scale bungling in these elections.
