Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI: The National Commission for Women (NCW) has recommended heavy penalty, including imprisonment up to six months (that could be extended to seven years) with a fine up to Rs. 50,000, for the employers failing to comply with the provisions in the Domestic Workers (Registration, Social Security and Welfare) Bill, 2008.
The draft Bill, being discussed at a two-day national consultation, is intended to be a comprehensive legislation aimed at improving the working conditions of millions of domestic workers, who contribute significantly for the services sector economy.
