Anantara’s big push to online business

Staff Correspondent

CHENNAI: Anantara Solutions, providers of second generation outsourcing (SGO), has launched its consulting, technology and outsourcing practice for Second Life, the rapidly growing 3D online world.

Second Life is a 3D virtual world entirely built and owned by its residents. It is inhabited by over 12 million residents from around the globe.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, S. Sundararaj, Partner-Online Businesses, Web Technologies, Media and Entertainment, Anantara Solutions Private Limited, said the company was currently consulting for a U.S.-based logistics firm and a leading Indian automotive component manufacturer to create a Second Life presence for them and to help them maximise business benefits of such a presence.

Explaining the concept of Second Life, Mr. Sundararaj said everything in Second Life, except for the land, had been created by its residents. The U.S.-based Linden Labs had the exclusive rights to create islands.

Residents retain the rights to their digital creations in Second Life. They could buy, sell and trade with other residents. It had a marketplace that currently supports millions of U.S. dollars in monthly transactions. The commerce was handled with the in-world unit-of-trade, the Linden dollar (one $ = 270 L$).

Vinayak Sharma, Consultant-Certified Knowledge Manager of the company, said Anantara was building an ecosystem of delivery partners within Second Life to replicate its Real Life delivery model. For more information, visit www.anantsol.com
