BHUBANESWAR: Following on the lines of Mumbai’s “Kal ke Kalakar” and Kolkata’s “The Stars of Tomorrow” festivals for the budding Indian classical dancers and singers, Bhubaneswar will be now having an identical annual affair namely, “Naveen Kalakar” . Providing the much-needed platform for the young artistes to project themselvees , the event would be start in the city from April 27 to 29, being hosted by the Devdasi Nrutya Mandir in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya . The event will also be supported by A.K. Parija Presentations that promotes Odissi dance globally and the city-based Orissa Samskriti Academy. “Culture Minister S.N. Patro evinced keen interest in this festival that will showcase the talent of Odissi dancers from the country and a abroad ,” says the secretary of the host organisation Jagabandhu Jena. ‘Odissi Ratna’ would be conferred on the best performers, it would also invite Odissi, Hindustani and Carnatic vocalists and instrumentalists, he added. An exhibition of books and journals on performing arts would also be put up on the occasion by Orissa Samskriti Academy.
