‘Implement job scheme effectively’

Chamarajanagar: The Chief Executive Officer of Chamarajanagar Zilla Panchayat G. Jayaram has called upon the elected representatives to ensure effective implementation of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS).

He was speaking after inaugurating a workshop on NREGES for the zilla panchayat members here on Friday.

He said the Union Government had selected Chamarajanagar, one of the backward districts of the State, to implement the scheme.

Aim

Mr. Jayaram said the scheme aimed at reducing poverty by providing jobs to unemployed persons in rural areas.

He called upon the zilla panchayat members to ensure effective implementation of the scheme.

Zilla panchayat president Shailaja Mallesh presided over the function. Vice-president of the zilla panchayat Puttaranga Shetty and zilla panchayat members were present.
