Affairs that cost dearly Law & order

Offences that are fallout of illegal intimacies have become complex writes

S. Vijay Kumar

For law enforcing agencies, these cases have become more challenging to handle. Offences that are fallout of illegal intimacies or affairs have become common and complex. Be it murder, attempt to murder, abduction or missing case, the police first verify this angle of immoral relationship.

The recent murder of an employee in an ice-cream parlour at Anna Nagar in broad daylight is yet another case that revolves around a handful of suspected men who were allegedly involved with the married woman. Though the parlour was located in a busy locality, the accused managed to murder D. Malarvizhi of Arapalayam and escape.

Even as the victim ran out of the parlour to the main road with a deep injury on her neck, nobody came forward to take her to a hospital. Among the first to visit the scene of crime was the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), R. Ramrajan. “It was a pre-planned murder. The suspect murdered the girl probably after an argument. No attempt was made to move the victim to a hospital. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the married woman was involved with a few men and one of them was most likely to be the murderer,” he said.

A couple of days back, half-burnt bodies of a couple were found near Tirunagar. It was again an alleged illicit relationship that led to their murder. The duo was living together near Aruldosspuram, police say. In another case a few weeks ago, A. Nagajothi (21) of Khanpalayam was found murdered in her house when her husband was at work. The incident occurred in a congested residential area and police suspect the involvement of the victim with a stranger who could have killed her.

“Illicit relationships are kept under wraps by both parties. When an offence takes place, there is hardly any clue that can lead to the detection of the case. In some cases, mobile phone bills helped to locate the persons involved,” said an Assistant Commissioner of Police. In Subramaniapuram police station limits, a dancer was done to death.

Before offering jobs to anybody, employers should verify their antecedents.

“If the profile of a candidate is given to us, we are ready to verify the antecedents. Giving employment to strangers can lead to problems,” he added.
