Pleas of three IAF officers dismissed

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Friday dismissed petitions by three Indian Air Force officers seeking a direction to the Defence Ministry to permit them to retire prematurely saying that the “petitions were lame of strength”. The officers had sought retirement on the grounds that their sick parents required them at home to take care of them. They further submitted that similarly situated officers were in the past given premature retirement. The IAF had rejected their requests saying they were not in accordance with the guidelines. It also said that their actual purpose for seeking premature retirement was not sickness of their parents but better career prospects.
