Delhi Tamil Sangam group meets Sheila

NEW DELHI: A delegation of Delhi Tamil Sangam called on Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit at her residence on Friday and appealed to her to speed up action on its request for proper maintenance and shifting of saint-poet Thiruvalluvar’s statue situated in West Block V of R.K. Puram here. According to the delegation, Ms. Dikshit gave an assurance that the matter of shifting the statue from its existing spot to the Delhi Tamil Sangam premises would be taken up soon.
The Sangam has already written to all MPs from Tamil Nadu to take up the matter with the Delhi Government. All the MPs are reported to have taken up the matter with the State Government. This matter was also taken up with the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, who had instructed the State Government officials in Delhi to pursue the matter with the Delhi Government.
