Big buyers of rice told to file returns

TIRUCHI: The district administration has notified that all companies, firms or individuals who buy 10,000 tonnes of rice or paddy or above during the 2007-08 kharif season (October 1, 2007 to September 30, 2008) are required to furnish returns indicating the quantity of the purchase and stocks held as per a notification issued by the Department of Food and Public Distribution, New Delhi. The returns are to be filed before the 5th of every month for purchases made from March to September this year. Those who have made the purchases between October 2007 and February 2008 are required to send the monthly returns immediately, Collector T.Soundiah said in a press release. Those purchasing between 10,000 and 25,000 tonnes of rice/paddy should file the returns to the Secretary, Cooperatives, Food and Consumer Protection, Chennai .
