Government plans to improve 18 lakes in Villupuram district

VILLUPURAM: The State government has proposed to improve two lakes in every Assembly constituency and has made financial provisions for the same. Each water source will be improved at a cost of Rs.10 lakh.

It has been proposed to improve 18 lakes in Villupuram district. The project envisages carrying out repairs to sluices, strengthening bunds and streamlining inlets and outlets. The lakes identified are as follows: Melmalaiyanur constituency – Kalakkapatti and Semmedu lakes; Ginjee – Keezh Paasaaru and Sathanur; Tindivanam – Kollar and Kalla Kolathur; Vanur – Perumbakkam and Pallamoor; Kandamangalam – Thuravi and Sornavur; Villupuram – Valavanur and Perumbakkam; Mugaiyur – Vadakarai Thazhanur and Kuladeepamangalam; Thirunavalur – Emaper; Rishivandhiyam – Ponniyenthal and Ariyalur; and, Sankarapuram – Lakkinaickenpatti.
