Camps for collection of charges to be set up Those facing problems can visit redress centre NEW DELHI: In the wake of the Supreme Court conditionally allowing third floor in the Capital’s residential colonies, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi is gearing up to smoothen the process of sanctioning building plans and setting up camps for collection of conversion charges for the purpose. MCD Standing Committee Chairman Vijender Gupta and Leader of the House Subhash Arya announced on Saturday that camps for collection of conversion charges would be set up in all 12 MCD zones across the city to make it easy for the citizens. He also appealed to those interested in depositing the conversion charges to do so by March 31. Mr. Gupta said once the MCD receives a certified copy of the Supreme Court order, all such building plans lying with the Building Department would be sanctioned. The Standing Committee Chairman also revealed that the MCD was planning to move the Supreme Court in order to wrest the power to de-seal from the Court-appointed Monitoring Committee. “The power to de-seal the properties should be taken away from the Monitoring Committee as its interference in day-to-day affairs was delaying the de-sealing process,” he said, adding that the power to de-seal should be transferred to the Commissioner and Additional Commissioners of the MCD. The civic body has also decided to allow new shops and commercial establishments to be opened on the roads notified for mixed land use. “A number of prospective shopkeepers and commercial establishments are not able to start their businesses as the MCD was not allowing new registration on notified roads,” said Mr. Arya, while announcing the decision to begin registrations. Mr. Gupta also announced that shopkeepers or individuals facing problems in de-sealing could approach the redress centre being set up in his office. “It would be ensured that shopkeepers and owners of commercial establishments are not harassed. If any official is found guilty of harassment, he will face strict disciplinary action,” declared Mr. Gupta.
