“Indian automobile industry cynosure of all eyes”

Staff Reporter

KANCHEEPURAM: The Indian automobile and component industry has become a promising and stable sector for growth in terms of career development and employment, according to the Director, India Pistons, R. Mahadevan.

Inaugurating a conference on “Modern trends in automobile engineering” at Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, Pennalur near Sriperumbudur on Thursday, Dr. Mahadevan claimed that Indian automobile industry, branded as a static and regressive sector in mid-1990s, had now become a cynosure of all eyes.

While the availability of technologically competent manpower at low-cost had lured the international automobile giants to the country since the late 1990s, the efforts, put in by a team of 10 young committed engineers to make the dream of Ratan Tata into a reality, had helped the Indian automobile sector assume the status of a most talked about entity in the global automobile industry.
