KOZHIKODE: A national workshop on zingiberaceous spices, which includes ginger, turmeric, and cardamom, will be held from March 19 to 20 at the Silver Jubilee hall of Indian Institute of Spices Research (IISR) in the city. The programme has been organised jointly by IISR and Directorate of Arecanut and Spices Development. It is intended as a take-off point for deliberating on production technologies, improved varieties of cardamom, ginger and turmeric, integrated management of diseases and pests, post-harvest technologies, value addition and protection of plant varieties and farmers’ rights. In addition to scientists, farmers and government officials from across the country would speak at the workshop. It would be inaugurated by Dr. H.P. Singh, deputy director general (horticulture), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
