‘Allocation reduced for SC Finance Corporation’ KVPS demands filling of 50,000 backlog posts SANGAREDDY: Kulavivaksha Vyatireka Porata Sangham (KVPS) State vice-president K.Rajaiah demanded budgetary allocation for Dalits, proportionate to the population of SC and STs in the State. Addressing a press conference here on Saturday Rajaiah said a minimum of Rs.1,360.19 crore should have been allocated for the Dalits in the recent budget. He pointed out that the Minister for Finance has cut down the allocation for the SC Finance Corporation. He pointed out that only Rs. 63 crore was sent from the last year’s allocation of Rs.113 crore, indicating the lack of interest towards Dalit entrepreneurs. Similarly the funds allocated for purchase of land and house sites for distribution among Dalits has come down to Rs.177 crore from last budget that set aside Rs.400 crore. Anti DalitTerming the State Budget as anti-Dalit and poor, Rajaiah demanded that Rs. 16,000 crore which was supposed to have been spent for the welfare of SC and STs since a decade should be returned to the nodal agency. He said that the nodal agency without financial assistance would be of no use. The KVPS has been demanding for filling up of 50,000 vacant backlog posts and distribution of three acres of land to every Dalit family in the State. Other demands included introduction of a comprehensive slum development programme by the Union Government and an effective campaign against casteism by the State Government. Loan waiverRajaiah announced that the KVPS would raise the issue of loan waiver during the ‘Chalo Assembly’ for land and budget on 19th of this month. He said that the loans taken by Dalits from the SC Corporation and the electricity bill of all kinds should be waived immediately.
