Pujas to mark Raaghu Peyarchi

THANJAVUR: Raaghu Peyarchi will be observed at Sri Naganathaswamy Temple at Thirunageswaram on April 9, according to a press release issued here by S. Ramalingam, Chairman, Board of Trustees, and G. Thennarasu, Executive Officer of the temple, on Saturday.

Raaghu Bhagawan moves from Kumba Rasi to Mahara rasi on April 9 in anti-clockwise direction and stays in Maharam for eighteen months. The peyarchi occurs at 8.31 a.m. on April 9. Special homam, abhishekam, sandal paste decoration, flower decoration, annadhanam, musical and cultural programmes are being arranged for three days from April 7 to 9. Offering of prayers and participation in the above mentioned rituals will confer relief from sickness and evil spirits and bestow benefits, the release said.

In this connection, those who are born in Mesham, Mithunam, Kadaham, Kanni, Thulam, Danusu, Maharam and Kumbam rasis are informed to perform pariharams by participating in Laksharchana, which is fixed at Rs.125 in person. Those who desire to do so in their absence may send Rs.150 by money order or demand draft payable to the Executive Officer, Sri Naganathaswamy Temple (Sri Raaghu Sthalam), Thirunageswaram, 612 204, Kumbakonam taluk, Thanjavur district, and register their names well in advance together with their postal address. They should also provide their birth star. Prasatham and a silver dollar of Raaghu, weighing two grams, will be sent to them by post. Laksharchana will be peformed from April 4 to 7 and April 10 to April 12.
