Krishnagiri: Krishnagiri district police on Saturday launched intensive combing operations in Hosur in an effort to eliminate prohibition-related offences as well as unlawful activities along the State border.

According to police sources, the drive was also aimed at scanning the scope for cross border offences where in professionals from the neighbouring State cross over to Hosur and reportedly indulge in unlawful activities. The Police also raided lodges and hotels in Hosur town and surrounding areas to ascertain the presence of other district and inter-state criminals.

The Police also seized 1,000 pirated DVDs and CDs of latest Tamil, English and Telugu movies during the raids. Prasath, Krishna and Chandru were arrested and remanded in custody.

The police have stepped up vehicle checks and night patrolling across the seven police station limits in Hosur sub-division as part of crime prevention measures. As many as 90 cases were registered for traffic violations while eight cases were registered for drunken driving. The drive would continue in all sensitive and crime-infested pockets, say police sources.
