Forty additional classrooms, new buildings for 24 Cluster Resource Centres and power supply to 130 schools were facilitated through the scheme.
Besides, four primary schools at Pottalkadu (Tuticorin panchayat union), K. Subramaniapuram (Vilathikulam), South Nagalapuram (Kayathar), and Panaivilai (Sattankulam), were upgraded to upper primary schools on a total outlay of Rs. 94.02 lakh.
A school functioning under Education Guarantee Scheme at Chenkulam (Alwarthirunageri) was upgraded to a primary school at a cost of Rs. 8.17 lakh. And Rs. 5 lakh was spent to create BaLA (Building as a Learning Aid) centres at six government schools, by which pictographs were painted on walls for easy learning.
To improve teacher-student ratio, 168 ‘teacher educators’ were posted to Block Resource Centres and Cluster Resource Centres established at various government and aided schools. A sum of Rs. 42 lakh was spent this financial year to conduct educational tours and distribute welfare assistance to differently abled students under inclusive education.
