Fresh clashes at Nandigram

KOLKATA: Fresh clashes took place in Nandigram Saturday between the CPI(M) supporters and the Bhumi Ucched Pratirodh Committee members. Some persons were injured in the clashes at the Chowrangi Bazaar area.

The clashes come a day after the Opposition parties, the Trinamool Congress and the Congress took out rallies and processions in the city and in Nandigram, to mark the first anniversary of the police firing in March last that left 14 dead.

When some CPI (M) members were proceeding to attend the governing council elections of the Rajaram School, they were allegedly blocked by the Committee members which led to an altercation.
