Stipend sought for junior advocates
HYDERABAD: Members of the State committee of the All-India Lawyers’ Union on Saturday took out a rally from RTC Crossroads to Sundarayya Park, Bagh Lingampally, to press several demands, including payment of Rs.3,000 as stipend to a junior advocate for five years. Over 250 lawyers from across the State took part in the procession which culminated in a public meeting at the park under the leadership of G. Vidyasagar, committee president.
Memorandum given
K. Satyanarayana, general secretary, K. Pardha Saradhi, secretary, K. Nageshwar, MLC, spoke. The Committee leaders later presented memorandum of demands to floor leaders of various political parties in the Assembly lobbies.
The other demands include grant of Rs.10 crore to the Bar Council of AP for the welfare of advocates, to provide libraries in all the 229 bar associations in the State with computer, and Internet facilities. The committee wanted the government to arrange bank loans to advocates for setting up offices and house-sites either free or at nominal cost.
