“Mackeown’s charges baseless”

Special Correspondent

PANAJI: Goa Home Minister Ravi Naik on Saturday described the charges made by Fiona Mackeown, mother of British girl Scarlette Eden Keeling, against him as “irresponsible.” He said it was high time the government probed her background and sources of income.

Earlier, Ms. Mackeown alleged that Mr. Naik and Director-General of Police B.S. Brar were doing a “cover-up job” in the ongoing investigations into her daughter’s mysterious death on the Anjuna beach on February 18.

Terming her charges as baseless, Mr. Naik said the government had put upright police officials in charge of the investigation and already arrested two accused.
