AVT DT clinches title

Chennai: AVT DT (9 points), comprising Dilip Thomas (3 points) and Sanjeev Mehra (6 points), won the team event of the inaugural Rotary Club of Madras-Alchemy Corporate golf Challenge, at the Guindy Golf Course, on Saturday. The team was declared the winner based on a better back half score.

Muruguppa Group is runner-up

Murugappa Group finished with nine points, and was the runner-up. Arun Murugappan had eight points, while C.V. Yudhvir had one point.

In the individual events, Krishna Prasad was the winner in the 0-9 category (10 points), while Ishwar Achanta (Viking Shipping, 3 points) was the runner-up.

K. Jagannathan (Oriental Capital, 12 points) won the 10-18 category. S. Kumar (8 points) finished runner-up.

For a good cause

The tournament attracted 119 participants, with more than 50 companies in the fray. The proceeds will go to the Ray of Light Foundation, to help cancer patients.

Former India cricket captain K. Srikkanth was the guest of honour. K.N. Vaidyanathan, CEO, Alchemy, was the chief guest.

Indira Subramanyam, President of Rotary Club of Madras, gave away the prizes.

Gross prizes: Winner: C.V. Yudhvir (71 gross). Runner-up: Brig M.K. Raj (75).

Gross Team:

Winner: GJ Multiclave (K.P.K. Kumaran & R. Sanjay). Runner-up: Army Southern Command (Brig. M.K. Raj & Col. Alag).

Longest drive: 7th hole: Arun Murugappan. Closest to the pin on the 2nd: Vinay Kumar (3 ft.).
