Bid to tone up administration Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday effected a major bureaucratic reshuffle transferring 65 IAS officials, including 19 secretaries and 29 District Magistrates, in an apparent exercise to help further tone up the administration. A notification to this effect was issued by the State personnel and administrative reforms department after Kumar gave his nod on the concerned files late last night, official sources said. Among the districts which would now have new DMs are Jamui, Aurangabad, Lakhisarai, Sitamarhi, Kaimur, Khagaria, Sheohar, Araria, Darbhanga, West Champaran, Muzaffarpur, Patna, Kishanganj, Nawada, Saharsa, Banka, West Arwal, Buxar, Katihar, Bhagalpur, Bhojpur, Madhubani, Gaya, East Champaran, Rohtas, Siwan, Nalanda, Munger and Samastipur. District Magistrate (Patna) Dr B Rajinder was transferred and made director of the State agriculture department, the sources said. Bhojpur District Magistrate Jitendra Kumar Sinha would now be new District Magistrate of Patna. Similarly, Bipin Kumar, DM (Bhagalpur) was shifted to Muzaffarpur in the same capacity. Other new DMs included Rana Awadhesh Kumar (Jamui), Ramshobhit Paswan (Aurangabad), Pranmohan Thakur (Lakhisarai), Vijay Kumar (Sitamarhi), Baidyanath Prasad (Kaimur), U N Thakur (Khagaria), S P Singh (Sheohar), Indrasen Singh (Araria), Dilip Kumar Srivastava (West Champaran), Arun Prasad (Darbhanga), Firak Ahmed (Kishanganj), Yogendra Bhakta (Nawada), Garib Sahu (Saharsa), Ashish Kumar (Banka) and KK Sinha (Buxar). Divisional Commissioners of Munger, Patna, Bhagalpur and Darbhanga too were transferred. While Munger’s Commissioner H. C. Sirohi was shifted as principal secretary of the State rural work department, Bihar State Beverage Corporation’s managing director Brajesh Malhotra would be new commissioner of Darbhanga division. Dr Dipak Prasad, secretary, state rural work department, was made new divisional commissioner of Munger, sources said, adding secretary (public grievances cell) in the State cabinet department would be new commissioner of Bhagalpur. Senior IAS officers Pancham Lal, A. K. Sinha, B. B. Srivastava, C. Ashokbardhan, Tripurai Sharan, Dipak Prasad and Shivkumar were among the secretaries who were shifted. Lal would now be principal secretary of the State Panchayati Raj department. Sinha would be principal secretary of the industry department. Srivastava has been shifted as additional member of the State revenue board from the land reform and revenue department. Ashok Bardhan will look after the State land reform and revenue department as its principal secretary. Sharan was made secretary, food and consumer conservation department, they said, adding similarly, Shivkumar would hold the charge of principal secretary of the State road construction department. -- PTI
