Report already submitted to Chief Secretary Rs. 20 crore to be allotted for Banda, Chitrakoot Lucknow: With an aim to provide relief to the people of Bundelkhand, reeling under drought-like situation for four years in a row, the Uttar Pradesh Government has come up with an ambitious plan of creating artificial rain in the region. “The Agriculture Department’s plan could help in providing immediate relief and improving the situation in Bundelkhand,” Agriculture Minister Lakshmi Narain told PTI. The plan was prepared by the Divisional Commissioner of Jhansi, P. Jaganmohan, following which a team went to Andhra Pradesh to study the procedure. “A report has been submitted to the Chief Secretary and a technical committee is studying it,” a senior official told PTI. “As per the first phase of the plan, Rs 20 crore is to be allotted to moisten the soil across a 50 km stretch in the two worst-hit districts of Bundelkhand -- Banda and Chitrakoot,” he said. --PTI
